The glorious thing about representative democracy is that no qualification is required to vote (aside from reaching the necessary age threshold) and no qualification is required to stand for election. As most people aren't very bright, they just want an easy-to-remember soundbite. As Trump is essentially an imbecile, the only thing he's capable of is babbling until some easy-to-remember soundbite appears by random chance and then Republicans grab it and repeat it. And so, the overwhelming likelihood is that Trump will return to the White House in 2025 and never, ever, suffer any consequences for his actions despite him having caused greater harm to the USA than any foreign adversary has ever managed to accomplish.
