The human brain is primarily evolved to cope with social interactions: deceiving others, detecting deception. We have very little capacity for, and even less interest in, objective reality. A few brains come hardwired for a different modality but the world in general is not kind to such folk, being populated as it is by ignorant morons each seeking whatever personal advantage they can create within systems fashioned by profoundly foolish and flawed individuals.
