The idea that hunter-gatherers spent little time sustaining themselves is based on a very faulty analysis that was corrected long ago. In reality, past and current hunter-gatherers spend far more time on securing the basics of life than we do, and their lives are far more precarious. It's always amusing to fantasize about "a past golden age" but it never existed. Best to do a bit more research, methinks.
