The last time I visited Yellowstone back in 2014, the ground was rising by an average of 4cm per year. The fact is, predicting the next super-eruption is impossible. Equally impossible is the notion of preparing any contingency plans. Neither government agencies nor ordinary people have any real capacity for forward planning, and in any case given the magnitude of the impending disaster it's unclear whether any plan would survive contact with devastating reality. We have to accept that what happens here is largely outside of our control.
