The missing piece in this article is diet. Regardless of one's aspirations and the enthusiasm of one's trainer, it's impossible to improve one's fitness on a diet of fried chicken, soda, and donuts. A healthy diet delivering all essential nutrients and micro-nutrients is the other half of the equation, without which an exercise regime will fail because the body won't be getting what it needs in order to adapt to what's being demanded of it.
