The most obvious drawback for this new way to burn through venture capital is the recharge time. Working people who use their trucks not as occasional status-symbols but as real tools can’t really afford to wait hours while the vehicle’s batteries recharge. Musk doesn’t really have a clue about the lives of most truck buyers; those who drive around in shiny SUVs and top-of-the-range trucks up and down California’s peninsula aren’t representative of mainstream buyers in any way.
