The problem for all electric pickup trucks (including Tesla's amusing demo model, which has been quietly abandoned) is that they can be sold only to middle-class poseurs. As a working vehicle they are a non-starter. They lack the all-weather capability (range shrinks in the cold with the heaters & defrost and light and wipers on), they have no power take-off capability (forget about your work tools) and adding a winch would reduce battery life to a few minutes. Ford, GM, and whatever Fiat-Chrysler is calling itself this week can sell trucks to the middle-class market because they're also selling the same trucks (usually in a lower trim level) to people who really need them. The market for middle-class poseur vehicles is limited, and there will be too many competitors for a small under-funded startup to compete over the longer term.
