The problem for the Brits is that they adore the Queen (though it's impossible to understand why) and so they automatically endorse an anachronistic structure that should have been dismantled decades ago - if not earlier. Were it not for the automatic British deference to one's supposed superiors, a clown like Johnson would never have become PM. And were it not for the perpetual nostalgia for an imaginary past, the Brits wouldn't have committed national suicide by voting for Brexit and then voting overwhelmingly for the charlatans who promoted it.

So all in all, living in the UK is like being trapped in a highly dysfunctional social amber - I'm very pleased I'll be departing once more in the very near future.
