The UK has never managed to become a forward-looking nation but instead is crippled by a perpetual desire to go back to some imaginary golden time. Supposedly "upper class" halfwits have a sense of entitlement merely because mummy and daddy were able to afford to send them to the best schools and they squander their Oxford days getting roaring drunk at Bullingdon Club dinners. Ordinary Brits, when they're not vomiting up lager & crisps onto the pavement, think they're "special" because a very long time ago the nation had an Empire. Brexit was the result of toxic backward-looking ignorance and the UK's future is merely going to be every day slightly worse than the one before, with no hope of redemption. One does not live in the UK; one merely endures being there until one can escape and go somewhere - anywhere - far better.
