Let’s fan the flames and burn everything to the ground!
Wherever one looks one sees more or less the same picture: ordinary people, ignorant, foolish, and endlessly gullible, vote for far-right populist-nationalist demagogues who feed them mindless soundbites that are loved because they are easy to chant. The world is complex, but ordinary human brains crave simplicity. The illusion of simplicity is what the demagogues proffer to their empty-headed serfs.
Unfortunately for the world, infantile sniveling demagogues aren’t merely confined to reality TV freak shows any more. They now occupy the highest positions of power in many nations and are gaining power in all the remaining nations that haven’t already fallen completely into their hands. As such, ultra-right halfwits now steer policy both domestic and external and their endless lies are tearing apart the few remaining strands of everything we need for our security and prosperity.
The essence of the demagogue message is simple and eternal. It worked for Napoleon, Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, and Mao and it’s worked equally well for Orban and Modi and Erdogan and Putin and Trump. It’s what destroyed the UK Conservative Party and it’s what enables the AfD in Germany, Marine Le Pen in France, and countless other ultra-right Parties across Europe to garner ever more votes from…
