There's certainly a lot of blame to go round. A year prior to partition there were massacres in some of the larger Indian cities (Mumbai, Kolkot) initiated by inflammatory claims by Jinna, stirring up religious tensions for his own political benefit. The British, who'd misruled India for nearly 250 years, bungled every significant decision and it's disgraceful that so few Brits know about their history in this regard. Today Modi is busy stirring up religious hatred for his own ends, and frankly it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that India and Pakistan will be the first nations to engage in nuclear conflict. Pakistan is a geography, not a nation, and India is descending into theo-facism. The outlook is bleak.
