There's nature, and then there's tamed nature with trails and access points and most lethal things removed - and always within a few kilometers of a nice road. Tamed nature lets urban folk fantasize about "the harmony of nature." Real nature kills you if you're not adequately prepared, because real nature is a constant struggle for survival. No one with even a passing acquaintance of evolution can imagine nature to be a Walt Disney-style theme park set there so self-indulgent folk can wax lyrical. It's fine to pretend nature is lovely so long as you stick to tamed nature. Be careful never to imagine, however, that real wilderness will be as soft and fluffy and charming.
