There's video evidence that shows the vehicles were not decoys. Moreover there would have been no point - the unit was trying to exploit a breach in Russian lines. The hard fact is so many Ukrainian officers have been killed that a lot of reservist officers are now in charge, and they are not NATO trained. They default to old Soviet-era tactics, often with the catastrophic results depicted in the pictures.

Of course, if the West hadn't consistently given Ukraine far too little, far too late, none of this would have been possible. If Ukraine had been given F-16 jets 9 months ago, they'd have destroyed the artillery pieces Russian forces used to destroy this Ukrainian convoy. But we didn't provide the jets, Russian artillery remains dominant, and so Ukraine continues to fight at an enormous disadvantage relative to the barbarian invaders.

But don't worry - Western news organizations won't mention this for fear of upsetting their audiences, so we can let all those Ukrainians carry on dying because of our cowardice and utter stupidity. Mustn't upset Tzar Putin in case he talks (again....) about his nuclear weapons.... which, of course, he can never, ever, use because the result would be to turn Russia into one huge radioactive pile of ash.
