This is an excellent article. Unfortunately it is very difficult to see how positive change can be engineered when (i) our species is rather dull-witted and lacks the capacity to imagine adequately future outcomes; hence deforestation, over-fishing, sedentary lifestyles spent cramming McSlop down our throats, etc., and (ii) there are so very many interlocking systemic incentives for behaving irresponsibly. We see a few small positive signs, but it is unclear whether enough can be done in the short time remaining - especially when far too much media attention is spent on silly little billionaire boys wanting to build panic rooms on Mars and far too little attention is spent on the many real and immediate existential problems confronting us right now.
