This is representative democracy working as expected. The problem is not Trump - he is merely a symptom, as was Brexit and all the ultra-right Parties now rising in power all across Europe. We cannot be angry at Trump because at least 74 million empty-headed US voters want him as President and, according to the tenets of representative democracy, they are entitled to get what they want.

Of course, we could begin to question whether representative democracy (a system in which no qualifications whatsoever are required in order to vote, and no qualifications whatsoever are required in order to stand for election) is fit for purpose in our modern complex inter-connected world. But as nearly everyone worships democracy as they used to worship the old pantheons of gods in years gone by, it's pretty clear that we're thrilled to let democracy carry us headlong into complete disaster - and not just in the USA, but everywhere.
