This is the science we should be spending money on, instead of squandering hundreds of billions of dollars to shove people into space where they can accomplish precisely nothing whatsoever of scientific value. Unfortunately most people can't distinguish between Star Trek and real science, and so we'll continue to have fanboys like Musk and Bezos burning cash pointlessly, and NASA wasting the majority of its budget on photogenic but scientifically worthless humans-in-space photo ops in the hope the general public won't complain too loudly about a tiny fraction of their taxpayer money being applied to infinitely more worthwhile causes.
