Trump’s Impeachment Is Un-American
Why the Democratic Party’s attempt to impeach and convict Trump undermines the USA’s most fundamental values

Thanks to its majority in the House of Representatives, the US Democratic Party was able to pass a motion earlier this week to impeach Donald Trump for a historic second time. By so doing, the dangerous and radical Democratic Party is seeking to undermine everything the USA has stood for over the last two hundred years.
Naturally, Republican politicians are mostly furious at this shabby attempt to divide the nation — a nation which until the impeachment vote was clearly united under god and ready for everyone to all just get along peacefully. Now the internal harmony and equality of all races, for which the USA is known across the globe, is under deadly threat thanks to small-minded political scheming by an incoming president who owes his position entirely to electoral fraud.
If there’s one principle above all others that the USA holds dear it is this: no rich powerful white man will ever, under any circumstance whatsoever, be held accountable for anything. No crime, whether it be sexual assault, theft, embezzlement, incitement to rebellion, fraud, tax fraud, or rape, is of such import that it cannot be swept under the rug thanks to the healthy complicity of other wealthy powerful white men.
If this core principle of US life is abandoned, one can only imagine the horrors that will ensue.
The US Republican Party has been staunchly defending such fundamental values for well over one hundred and fifty years, as was the Democratic Party too until its shameful abandonment of good old Southern racism back in the dark days of the 1960s civil rights movement when it lost its way. If the Republican Party were to waver now, no white ill-educated US citizen would be able to feel wholly safe in their ignorance and bigotry again. No police officer would be able to kill unarmed black men with impunity.
The very basis of US democracy would crumble into ruins.
Fortunately, there is precisely zero chance of the GoP behaving in such a cowardly manner. While a few may pretend to denounce Trump today, the vast majority will continue to back him regardless of facts, consequences, or even rudimentary morality. We must be grateful to these brave men and women who are willing to set aside all the qualities that make a person human, in order to sit down for what they know to be (far) right. If lies and rigorous avoidance of facts cannot prevail, what will become of our great nation?
Just imagine what would happen if the impeachment proceedings were permitted to go ahead! Not only could Trump be convicted of blatantly lying to the seventy-four million mind-numbingly stupid and ignorant Republican voters who faithfully turned out to support him in November 2020, but they would also perhaps one day risk being held accountable for identical crimes themselves!
Thank goodness the GoP had the foresight to illegally refuse to consider any Supreme Court nomination by the black guy who used to live in the White House and was out golfing on 9/11; we can be reasonably assured that the 6:3 far-right majority of suitably unqualified Republican appointees can be relied upon to do their utmost to block any trial in the Senate. There is, after all, no precedent for holding accountable a president after he’s left office. This must mean that any president, in his final months of office, has an unimpeachable get-out-of-jail-free card he can play to his heart’s content. Better yet, the Supreme Court itself ruled in 1969 that when a leader of the Ku Klux Klan demanded his followers exact “revengeance” on African-Americans and Jews, he was merely enjoying his First Amendment rights to free speech and in no way could this mean he should be held responsible for the violence his exhortation encouraged.
All in all, one thing is abundantly clear: something can’t be against the law if the president is the one doing it!
As with any good plan, there’s also a backstop. Even if the craven far-righters on the Supreme Court side-step the issue (as they so shamefully did after the November 2020 vote) brave Republicans in the Senate can still block any conviction by the simple expedient of voting against it. No matter how iron-clad and compelling the evidence against him and no matter how damaging Trump’s actions have been to the USA, we can count on staunch Republicans to ignore all the evidence and vote to acquit, thus denying the perfidious nation-dividing Democrats their victory. Just like they did in Trump’s first impeachment trial where some Republican senators even acknowledged Trump’s guilt but, as loyal right-thinking patriots, refused to condemn him anyway.
And that is precisely as it should be.
It is literally impossible to imagine the dire consequences of any other outcome. Imagine a USA in which rich and powerful white men can’t get what they want! Imagine a USA where black people (you know, those terrorists who want to overthrow the USA by demonstrating peacefully against overwhelming police brutality and a truly criminal justice system) have the same rights as their white superiors! Imagine a USA in which rich white men and large corporations run by rich white men can’t buy the legislation that will make them even more rich and powerful!
It’s clear the USA would fall apart overnight.
No wonder Republican politicians are following their consciences. No wonder Republican politicians are going to ensure that no crime committed by a supposedly wealthy old white (well, orange…) man should ever be punished. Nothing less than the future of the nation is at stake! It’s time for us to forget all about the many shameful and cowardly acts the Republican Party has enabled over the last forty years and focus instead on healing the nation. Which obviously means acquiescing to Trump’s many crimes, pretending they didn’t happen, and going back to the business of ensuring no Democratic policy shall ever be enacted again, for any reason whatsoever. Because that would be socialism and socialism is one thing the USA can never tolerate.
Only thanks to the brave actions of endlessly self-serving (and self-preserving) Republican politicians can we be certain that the USA will remain as it always should: a country where no wealthy and powerful white man need fear even the faintest illusion of justice; a nation where criminal acts will forever go unpunished provided you have the foresight to maintain a strong team of deeply cynical and highly experienced lawyers.
God bless the USA!
