Truss resembles nothing more than a mental patient out on Day Release, and her intellectual capabilities are correspondingly slight. But she understands that populist policies go down well with an electorate that is both ignorant and simple-minded, not least because the average voter has no conception whatsoever of even the most basic facts about economics. All voters see is "a solution" to their problem, and just because this "solution" is in fact catastrophically stupid it doesn't mean anyone will notice - until taxes rise in order to attempt to service the huge debt. As UK debt is already at 100% of GDP, and as interest rates are rising everywhere, it doesn't take a genius to see that the UK is heading for a fiscal meltdown.

Brought to the Brits by the glory of representative democracy, whereby know-nothings elect truly inadequate "leaders" on the basis of empty soundbites alone.
