Unfortunately the analysis presented in the article is wrong. Starting with the notion that age explains a significant amount of voting behavior: there are plenty of young Trumpies and plenty of old Democrat voters. The real problem is that we live in a complex inter-connected world, but most people know nothing and understand nothing. This would be fine except we then allow these people to vote. Likewise, we also allow anyone to stand for office regardless of how stupid, ignorant, infantile, and otherwise totally unsuited they may be. All that counts is telling simple-minded lies to the voters, because that's what works best whether you're a dull-eyed Trumpie or a hysterial PC wokist warrior. Representative democracy is hopelessly unfit for purpose and will lead us into tyranny because it relies on people being well-informed and thoughtful and that's a condition that never pertains.

We can only hope that eventually a few clever people will have the opportunity to try out more adequate approaches to the complex problem of governance. First, however, we must pass through an indeterminate period of darkness and horror.
