We already have clones: they are called identical twins. I very much doubt that one twin feels immortal because the other twin may somewhat outlast them. And as there is precisely no way whatsoever to "transfer mind" from one brain to another - never mind the problem of having to store the supposed "mind" somewhere for years while the clone's body ages appropriately - the idea of cloning as a path to quasi-immortality is ludicrous. It would be better if we accepted two very basic facts. Fact one: all living things die, and that's actually not a bad problem to be solved but a necessary part of existence. Fact two: if we don't want to decay into painful befuddled old age we can make adequate lifestyle choices starting in our teens and thereafter sustain good choices so as to maximize our healthspan, after which self-termination is a perfectly reasonable option.

But instead we are so self-indulgent and lacking in capacity for adequate self-administration that we look to silly sci-fi fantasies instead of taking meaningful steps to do practical, feasible, and highly beneficial things right now.
