What on earth has gone wrong with Canada? The USA is an abject lesson in what happens when you let mindless stupidity creep into the public domain. What next? Fire-fighters who refuse to extinguish a blaze because their superstition is against private houses or bars or cinemas or shopping malls?

If someone is paid by the state, their obligation is to provide services to all eligible citizens, not to pick and choose based on the fact they are stupid enough to think that the tribal myths of some ignorant goat-herders who lived more than 3,000 years ago are any sort of guide for living in a modern humane society.

As I’ve noted elsewhere, no society aspiring to humane and civilized values can tolerate superstition having any influence in public affairs. The USA is a prime example of the horrors that inevitably result from permitting such a catastrophic intellectual and moral error.
