What’s Wrong With The Medical Profession?
How a craft guild mentality kills thousands and harms millions of people every year
Doctors are generally well-meaning people. Unfortunately, they also kill and inflict serious harm on millions of patients every year.
A few examples from literally thousands will suffice to illustrate the problem.
Doctors ensured antibiotics would rapidly become useless because they over-prescribed them as if they were candy, despite constant warnings from scientists that this would lead to the rapid emergence of drug-resistant bacterial strains. Today, a wide variety of bacteria are indeed resistant to all known antibiotics and post-operative deaths are rising as a result.
Doctors created the Prozac epidemic, the Ritalin epidemic, and now the opioid epidemic by handing out drugs of dubious merit to tens of millions of vulnerable children and adults. Just because magic pills are available and easy to prescribe doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to do so.
Doctors still use forceps for difficult births despite nearly three decades of evidence that the suction method is much safer and easier to perform. While doctors like to talk about evidence-based medicine the reality is that they resist innovation for decades for no other reason than they…
