When I first pitched up in the Valley back in 1991 it was full of people who were tackling difficult problems and engineering interesting and useful things. Today it is largely full of fratboys who believe they “deserve” to be billionaires by age 25 because they created a smartphone app that lets people put bunny ears on their selfies. It’s not surprising, therefore, that such folk fixate on utterly pointless trivia. So the real question is: where did all the clever people go? Where are they, and what are they doing? They must be somewhere!
