When I was an undergraduate at Hertford (reading, alas, English) I knew Neil Tanner to be a highly intelligent and very interesting individual and a man who was highly respected and enjoyed by his Physics students. But until reading this article I had no idea he played such a central role in the early days of CERN. Thanks for a fantastic article.
