When we look at the positions staked out by the far-right Evangelical/Catholic coalition that helps push the GoP into power, we see the agenda isn't about abortion at all. If it were, the far-right States would make contraception freely available, thus removing 95% of the need for abortions in the first place. But what the theocratic far-right actually wants is simple: control. And they will do everything they can to gain control, not only over women but over "lesser races" who can then be relegated into the position of "non-people" as far as the law is concerned.
This vector is unchangeable. So the best thing that can occur is for the less backward States - those thin strips down either side of the continent - to break away from the great mass of bigoted uneducated lumpen proletariat who waddle within the rest of the landmass. As the coastal States generate all the innovation and most of the GDP, this would leave the backward States too impoverished to cause much trouble to anyone. And as anyone with an IQ larger than their hat size would eventually leave the backward States because life there will become increasingly ugly and intolerable, it would also solve a great many other problems as well.
