While I concur that people glibly throw around words they don't actually understand, I very much doubt the West's spineless passivity in the face of Putin's endless aggression has anything to do with linguistics. Regardless of whether or not the Russians ever used the "nazi" narrative, the West would always have been utterly incapable of meeting the threat Russia clearly poses. This is because the West has rotted from within. Our curious notion of giving ordinary people what they want - without ever once wondering if this is actually a good idea or not - has resulted in toxic foods and toxic pop culture and toxic politics. Ordinary people reliably opt for the worst-possible choices in all domains so we can't really be surprised that the results are reliably catastrophic in all domains. We have empowered the Baby People and the consequences are now inescapable.
