While I concur that the Boomer generation were the luckiest and most self-indulgent in history, spending their inheritance and putting their grandchildren into debt to fund their lifestyles, and while I am skeptical of deficit spending, the economic argument in this article is incoherent. Capitalism is merely the application of capital to increase gross factor productivity. The fact that the USA has always been deeply corrupt and that politicians have always sold themselves to the highest bidder has nothing to do with capitalism, nor with the notion of a market economy. By failing to grasp basic economic essentials, so-called "progressives" aim at entirely the wrong target and are thus doomed to perpetual failure. Their projections of future outcomes are equally doomed to irrelevance.
