While I concur that the GoP is no longer a political party in any meaningful sense, but rather a rabble determined to hold power by any available means, it's far from true that their strategy of lying endlessly to the simple-minded has failed. Trump garnered ten million more votes in 2020 than in 2016. Republicans gained seats in the House. The Senate will almost certainly return to Republican control by 2023 and the Supreme Court is the most right-wing in nearly a century. Furthermore, gerrymandering, voter suppression, and new Jim Crowe laws will ensure Republicans keep their foot on the throat of the nation for a long time to come. We are out of the realm of politics now and into the realm of civil war - only the shooting hasn't started yet because most people are too busy gawping at their entertaining shiny screens to have any clue what's happened.
