While it's certainly true that pretty much every US citizen, regardless of their political inclination, has benefited from US hegemony it is also true that the very worst offenders have consistently been the right-wingers who have undermined civil norms and trampled over legal precedent in their single-minded pursuit of raw power for its own sake.

Whereas liberals and progressives are indeed myopic, those on the right are unwavering neo-fascists. Picking on the center-right (which US citizens imagine to be "liberals and progressives" due to the total lack of any actual liberal and progressive elements in US politics) and pretending that this faction is to blame for the coming collapse of the USA is like claiming the dining steward was "really" responsible for the loss of the Titanic.
