While no doubt it is pleasant to note that different people will interpret events differently, often quite radically so, it is insufficient to conclude that "we all just need to chill and get along." There is, in fact, a set of objective truths. If someone believes the Earth is flat it is because they are either (i) a moron incapable of applying basic knowledge to perform elementary measurements, or (ii) intentionally denying easily demonstrated objective reality. Neither of these postures is adequate, and pretending that the fairytale of a flat Earth reveals something important about the believer is likewise inadequate: the believer is either stupid or intentionally obtuse, and neither quality is at all interesting. Of course this is a stark example, but it is intentionally so in order to make a very simple point: the less adequately individuals interpret reality, the worse the outcomes they will in general experience or inflict on others.
