Your article is a useful corrective but as we live in a world of media-driven hype and empty sensation it’s a pretty sure thing that Thunberg will continue to be headline-worthy for some considerable time to come merely because she’s so easily sold to an ever-gullible public. As always, cynical politicians will use her to their advantage by embracing her publicly as a way to offset the fact they are not doing anything meaningful in private. Because meaningful actions are hard and cost votes. The real problem with climate change is that everyone wants everyone else to bear the costs. As a European politician said several years ago, “We know what to do. What we don’t know is how to get re-elected after doing it.”
