Your comment about belief is pertinent — science is the only human endeavor where we consciously attempt to mitigate the limitations of our tiny brains, which seek to reduce ambiguity by latching on to whatever seems to do the job best. Science, which acknowledges (a) the fundamental importance of empiricism, and (b) the likely provisionality of much knowledge, is the only tool we have for understanding existence. But as our brains aren’t evolved to cope with complexity, it’s no surprise that the vast majority of our species struggles to grasp scientific concepts and thereby remains in intellectual darkness. Belief is easy; reasoning is extremely difficult.
